AAHS - The Asian American Humane Society is a Covenant House Teen Volunteer Association that supports the mission of the Covenant House. Since 2011, we have been fundraising and advocating, and promoting education on behalf of homeless and at-risk teenagers and low-income families.
AAHS For The Public Good
Since 2014, AAHS has been the Free Education resource for homeless and low-income families.
Our goal is to help and enable teens, especially those who need us most, homeless teens and low-income families in school to reach their full potential, inspiring homeless teens with all members on track to graduate from high school for demonstrating good character and good citizens.
AAHS - The Asian American Humane Society is a Covenant House Teen Volunteer Association that supports the mission of the Covenant House. Since 2011, we have been fundraising and advocating, and promoting free education resources to homeless youths and low-income families in California.
AAHS Co-founders and volunteers have been developing into effective advocates for helping homeless youth in
Covenant house, California (CHC).
When AAHS Co-founders joined the covenant house as key volunteers, CHC homeless shelter
was not well-connected with Asian society. AAHS co-founders and volunteers began to plan a way for two diverse cultures to establish a more harmonious relationship in society. AAHS 'first task was to create a network with all the Asian societies within the United States. AAHS presented CHC materials that we would use for meetings with the leaders of the Asian societies for our homeless youth awareness campaign and made our posters, brochures, and booklets, which we distributed to all the Asian societies in America, either in print or online.
In our 2nd year, AAHS aggressively campaigned for fundraising, reaching out to Asian donors for contributions to aid homeless youth. In addition, AAHS had a major water bottle drive campaign, with winter jackets and blankets to be distributed to homeless youth. In 2014, AAHS and major Asian Media ( Korea times, Korea daily news, MBC, KBS) wrote an investigative report on youth homelessness in the United States, work received major attention from the Korea daily news. The same year, AAHS Co-founders sold 40 gala fundraising VIP event tickets, marking the first time in more than 40 years that Covenant House was able to attract so many donors from Asian communities in the USA. Since 2014 full CHC media exposure, AAHS co-founders have been connecting all the Asian communities in the USA to connect to all Covenant Houses to help and support the mission of Covenant Houses in the USA, reaching out both locally and nationwide. Furthermore, in 2014, AAHS co-founders and volunteers organized Mother's Day barbecue, the summer annual event for CHC which was another volunteer success story.
In 2015, AAHS became more involved in covenant house’s (and CH NY) focus on teen human rights, particularly in the campaigns and fundraisers dedicated to ending teen human trafficking was able to gather more than 7,000 signatures on a petition that lobbied for modifying the laws to protect teen victims of human trafficking and striving to protect the teen victims in the USA.
During the summer of 2016, one of the co-founders Tiffany Kim took a Stanford legal studies during summer and wrote a research paper on Youth Homelessness in America, which drew a fantastic review from her Stanford professor.
AAHS has helped to connect two diverse cultures into a beautiful harmony while helping thousands of youths with free educational resources. Today, AAHS is making a positive impact in our community both locally and nationally by connecting many CH homeless shelters in the USA with Asian societies.
